For Pennsylvania Trooper Joshua Miller, 34, it was all part of his job. He probably had no idea what lay in store for him.
If he had, would he still have done it?
Trooper Miller and Trooper Robert Lombardo, 35, were just doing their jobs when they became involved in a chase. After arguing with his estranged wife during a custody exchange, Daniel Autenrieth kidnapped his son at gunpoint, then led police on a 40-mile high-speed chase.
The chase ended with Lombardo injured and Miller, a former Marine, dead.
Given a moment of prescient awareness, would Miller still have done what he did?
Anyone who knows police officers, and United States Marines knows the answer to that question.
It is yes.
After all, he was 'just doing his job'.
