
Another man who surely didn't think he would be called on to do anything heroic today.
Life is like that.
Heroes are born of a single moment in time.
This moment belonged to 39-year-old Stephen T. Johns of Temple Hills, Maryland. He was a six-year veteran of the museum, working as a special police officer.
There will be little that can make sense of his death.
But, as director Sara Bloomfield says, he "died heroically in the line of duty."
I pray that his family finds a tiny bit of peace in that.

In a society where a movie star who uses his cellphone to call 911 is called a hero, the term just doesn't seem adequate to describe this man. Sadly, my limited vocabulary does not allow me to come up with a better one. R.I.P.

I agree. We grant the title too easily, to people who truly don't deserve it. This man does.
