June 6, 1944

D Day.

The Normandie Invasion.

Gold, Juno, Utah, Sword, Omaha

Beaches forever etched in history.

Pointe du Hoc

Take a moment to watch the video above. Look at the faces of the men. They knew what awaited them. They knew what their odds were. They knew what they were facing.

But...

They also knew it had to be done.

As Ronald Reagan said in a speech he gave at Pointe du Hoc in 1984. D Day was 40 years past but the memories, the valor of those who fought had not been forgotten:

You all knew that some things are worth dying for. One's country is worth dying for, and democracy is worth dying for, because it's the most deeply honorable form of government ever devised by man. All of you loved liberty. All of you were willing to fight tyranny, and you knew the people of your countries were behind you.

They were a generation of heroes.
